Editing Stuff:
Q: How long have you been into computers?
A: I've liked computers for a long time, since I was about 8 or so, but that was only because of computer games. I never really began to understand computers or be interested in anything else but games until around October 2004.
Q: What Programs do you use?
A: Pretty much all Adobe.
- Adobe After Effects: Almost all special effects are done here - it's virtually all 2D and it's the second to most used program.
- Adobe Audition: Audio - but I don't use that too much because that's not /really/ my line of work, but I do use it plenty.
- Adobe Encore: DVD's - menus and such.
- Adobe Premiere Pro: Put everything together - most used program only because I need it most, but I like AE (After Effects) more just because it's more fun :).
Non-Adobe:
- Cinema Craft Encoder Basic: Good compressor, I use it for compressing to get ready for Google Video upload, or to get it ready for a DVD.
- DVD Decrypter: Getting the files off of a DVD to prepare them for VirtualDub converting
- VirtualDub MPEG-2: Converting almost anything. Really really good program to get from one format to the other, also some editing features.
- Cheetah Audio Converter v1.2: Why do I use the 1.2 version? Because it's free :D It's a good program for ripping CDs and converting some files.
- GoldWave: Good for simple audio editing and converting (when nothing else will work, and will rip CDs as well).
- Nero: Used to burn CDs or DVDs. Actually, in Adobe Encore, I don't burn the DVD, I build the DVD files and then burn the with Nero, I trust Nero a lot more than any other burning program out there.
- MainConcept H.264 Encoder - Takes care of the video conversion that other programs can't handle, and is actually gaining my intrest as I find out more about it...
Q: Where do you find most of these programs?
A: My three favorites, in order, are:
- Video Help (not limited to downloads, but tons of tools)
- Doom9 (mostly just downloads, but some guides)
- Download.com (you probably already know this one, I don't use it too much)
Q: What camera do you use?
A: Sony DCR-HC32, really nice little camera, but it's not that great... It'll do...
Q: How did you learn all of your sweet effects?
A: Well, from other people just like me. Here are a few links:
- TheForce.net - the saber tutorials teach a lot of basics about AE
- Ryan-W.com - I believe he worked for Lucas Films before, but his tutorials help out a lot
- PeerlessProductions.com - this is a productions company run by two brothers, I just love their work
Q: Why do you have a picture for your e-mail address? Why not just type it out as a link so I can just e-mail you when I click on it?
A: When you type out an e-mail address on a webpage, it becomes public to everyone, including programmers and hackers who would love to sell your e-mail address to as many companies as possible for five cents per e-mail. The programmers can tell a computer to search the internet for e-mails and list them out. It's a beautiful system if you're a bad hacker. This is also the reason you should use the Bcc field when mass e-mailing (forwards and such) rather than the To field. Because the Bcc field will send it and not include all the other e-mail addresses you sent it to. When a hacker comes up with one of these forwards that are "touching" with a poem, or "clever" with a funny picture or funny, they are just trying to get you to include all of your address book in the e-mail and hoping that they get it back so they can sell all the addresses for a nickle. So, sorry that took a long time to explain, but I thought it would be rather educational. :D
Q: What search engine do you use, and what services does that search engine provide?
A: Yes, I know... This is basically a question I made up so I could provide this information! I use Google!
